How Do You Define a Modern Family?

In the 1950’s, the ideal family consisted of a mother, father, two kids and a white picket fence. But the traditional family unit has evolved with extended families, single parents, gay parents, adoption and no children.

Childless and Happy

"Have your really thought about the fact that you may come to regret this, and it's too late?" Dr. Phil asks the couple.
"Absolutely," Aaron replies.
"It's a much better decision to go into it now saying, ‘This is just not right for us at the moment,' rather than following society's expectation and pressures," Rachael adds.
"There is a fair amount of research out there that suggests that there is a significant percentage of mothers who do regret it," Dr. Phil points out. "You really need to want to do it before you do it. If you have doubts about it, regardless of how other people feel about it, you're exactly right to not do it. People who are putting these judgments on you, and these expectations on you, let me assure you, they deliver this pearl of wisdom, and then they go home. You cannot give your power away to those people."
Dr. Phil shares his personal reflections on becoming a father.
Dr. Phil advises the couple to revisit their decision each year, to make sure that they haven't changed their minds.
