It doesn't just stop at the physical

Why is it that everyone always focuses on the physical part of domestic violence.  It doens't just stop there.  Yes, physical abuse is serious however eventually the bruises go away, cuts heal as well as the body.  But the emotional and mental scars last longer and involves more tp heal.  Please lets not forget the damage that emotional abuse leaves a victim.  How torn down they feel and to the point where they feel completely worthless.  A feeling that could promote someone to harm themselves or even commit suicide.  I was one of those.  Scars so deep that I have a hard time even finding a mate or even come close to being able to have a successful relationship.
