It's Ask Dr. Phil day and the doctor is in! The sky's the limit as Dr. Phil answers anything and everything -- including some questions with adult content! Melissa and Larry have been debating for years about what exactly constitutes oral sex. What they do agree on is that it's ruined their sex life and they're ready to put it to rest once and for all. Then, at just five feet tall and 100 pounds, this model says she's too petite for her dreams to come true and feels short-changed. Hear what she has to say about overweight people who win prizes for losing weight! Next, can you love your animals too much? Height disparity

I feel that the young lady who is 5ft tall and petite wasn't able to express herself well on this topic.

Part of this issue is that when someone is that small, most of the times when you want to be taken seriously there are problems.  People, when they see how small you are, often do not take you seriously nor do they give you the respect that an average adult should get!  You are viewed as though you are a kid who is vulnerable or isn't serious about life.  I am 5ft 2 and 100 pounds myself, look younger than i am and i am a female bartender.  At work i am constantly challenged because of how i look(like prey), like someone you can easily take advantage of because i look innnocent, young, soft spoken(at times),and seem naive.  Don't get me wrong there are advantages to this and i am very comfortable of who iam.  But i dispise to be looked at as a child who can be taken adavantage from. As far as the overweight being rewarded, i agree with her to a certain extent, because we all have weaknesses, and life challenges you with all sorts of obstacles.  It is your duty as a person to be able to control these stresses in a positive way, not by doing negative things like overeating( let's get a grip).  And if genetics is the problem then you can reach out and look for other ways on how to deal with those genes!!!! I feel like a chihuhua who needs to constantly growl to get respect from those big dawgs out there--geeesh!!

Good point

Quote From: watcher11

Granted this girl is young and probably has not experienced enough in life to realize that everything is not so cut and dry.  Not all overweight people can just lose weight and if she knew more about nutrition and physiology she would understand that overweight people can't just stop eating.  There are sometimes addiction issues like she mentioned involving food, but food is one addiction that you have to deal with on a daily basis.  With alcohol and drugs, for example, your body can eventually function without them, but you body can't function without food forever.  thia girl is physically beautiful, rather than working on "getting taller" she should work on being a "bigger" person
I absolutely agree with you and you couldn't have said it better, this girl needs an awakening as to how the world really works!

don't take life for granted

I can definitely relate to Melissa, and I know exactly where she is coming from.  I am 20 years old with a birth defect called Osteogenesis Imperfecta (also known as Brittle Bones disease), and one of its side effects is short stature.  I am 3’9” tall, and listening to Melissa’s story really struck a nerve in me.

I can definitely understand why she made those comments about overweight individuals getting rewarded for losing weight.  I am not at all saying that it is a bad thing, but the way I see it is that overweight people should want to lose weight for themselves; not be bribed with gifts and vacations.  I do understand that rewarding them for their new habits helps them get to their goal weight, but are they really doing it for themselves?

It angers me when I hear overweight people complain about their weight, because they can change their appearance by going on a diet and exercising, unlike me where I am stuck at a petite height for the rest of my life.  If I were one of those individuals, I would not take my life for granted when I could easily change my “flaws”, because things could be a lot worse!  Of course it would be an up-hill battle, but people have to realize that not everything is easy in life.

This is not a pity “letter” for myself, and I expect no pity from anyone else (and I doubt Melissa was looking for pity either).  I just want everyone to know that they take too much for granted, and they should wake up and enjoy their lives and their full potential.  Because honestly, America needs to stop complaining and making excuses for their bad behaviors and instead take responsibility for it and change their lives for the better!

Oral Sex

Years ago, I started a men's discussion group at university. At one meeting in particular, I was surprised by a participant in the group who said that he believed that his girlfriend wasn't fully accepting of his sexuality unless she was willing to 'swallow'.The majority of the rest of us were rather incredulous at his self-centred attitude and suggested that he should try it himself sometime and see if he liked the taste/sensation !!!We told him that if he refused to try it himself, he shouldn't be expecting anyone else to do it.

a message for melissa

Melissa, you need to learn that every single person on this planet has something that they wish that they could change about themselves. What you need to learn is that you are not alone. I'm sorry that you don't feel that you are rewarded for overcoming a difficulty, but the reward should be how good you feel everyday when you have your picture taken and are able to be a professional model. I'm sorry that you'd rather be a runway model but the most important lesson that children learn in life is that you can't have everything you want.

Should Dr Phil not reward people who overcome obstacles, as he said? Dr. Phil is an adult and can make his own choices, just as you and I are adults and can make our own choices. I choose to love myself for who I am, imprefections and all. Please don't make your visit to the Dr. Phil show a waste of time and go home thinking you didn't "win" anything. Go home with the knowledge that no one is perfect and the majority of people are teased at some point in their life about their imperfections. I hope you also learn that not everything is as it seems. Please don't be so closed minded about people. Maybe you are treated so poorly about your height because of the quality of people you have in your life. Surround yourself with people who don't judge others, and change your own views as well.

Some people have health issues which force them into obesity. Some people take medication that force them into obesity. Some people just don't know any better. If you don't want to be judged at face value then treat others the way you would wish for them to treat you. Maybe if you talked to that "fat slob" who is "Addicted to food and just needs to quit eating" you'd find that she used to be beautiful on the outside like you, and now has rheumatoid arthritis, has to take prednisone to be able to walk from her bed to the shower every morning, and the horrible side effect of the medication that she is on is that she gained 30 pounds in 2 months. She used to be a runner, a swimmer, a basketball player, and have a wonderful zest for life. Maybe you and she have a hobby in common. Maybe she understands how it feels to be mistreated or made fun of, or misunderstood. Please think twice before you speak, and instead of saying "You're fat, go on a diet" say "Hello." and maybe, just maybe, you'll start to see the world from a different point of view.

Melissa needs and attitude adjustment

It seems to me that Melissa has an attitude problem, not a height problem.  People that walk around say "whoa is me" really make me crazy. I know several people that do this and they take others people's situations and turn them into something about them and it has NOTHING to do with them. What do overweight people have to do with the fact that she is "vertically challanged"? It seems to me that Dr. Phil was right on this one. She needs to feel good about who she is. What she doesnt realize is that she is in control of her feelings and how she feels about herself. Somthing is missing in her life and it's not longer legs! But judging my Melissa's attitude I don't think she gets it, and would probably say nothing is missing in her life. Too bad for her, life is passing her by not because of her height but because of her lack of grattitude of the things she does have...

10/04 Ask Dr. Phil

Quote From: sjloya

Larry seems to think that since he did not climax then he did not engage in oral.  ANY SEXUAL CONTACT (CLIMAX OR NOT) DONE WITH THE MOUTH ON GENITALS IS ORAL SEX.

By Larry's definition, I suppose I have never had it either!  Which is not true.  I wonder if he applies this same definition to "regular" sex.  If he does not climax, then did he have sex?  Under this definition, then I could almost be considered a virgin!!

Yes, he sure did and I will too!  Oral stimulation/foreplay without orgasm is still oral sex.

she's giving us short people a bad name

I'm not sure how old this girl is but she has to grow up. I'm 29, 5'1 and 100lbs I never complain about being petite it's what makes me stand out. My husband is 6'3 and my son who just turned two is 3'2. She said people tell her to go to baby gap hey that's where I shop in Canada you only have to pay one tax on kids clothes so I save big time. She may be small but she's a big bully picking on overweight people. I think it takes a lot of courage to lose weight and people should be rewarded.

While you're right, you're wrong

Quote From: ayame_chan

That was only part of what she was saying! I was totally with everything she said. Go her.

If she was truly there to make her point about how it's hard being a short person, that's all she needed to talk about, she has NO right to dogging on people who for whatever reason have become overweight, I hope her family is ashamed of her because if she was in my family I would be.  She was extremely rude, and I don't think she helped her situation in the least.  I would have had more sympathy for her had she just stuck to the short person part of it, but this complaining on fat people WAS UNNECCESSARY
