(Original Air Date: 05/01/09) Cosmetic surgery among teens 18 and younger has more than tripled over a 10-year period. Dr. Phil talks to young women who say they face pressure from the media, their peers and even their own parents to be beautiful. Eighteen-year-old Jennifer says her mom, Martha, wants her to get liposuction, breast implants, a nose job and laser hair removal because she says beauty sells. Jennifer says she’s satisfied with her looks, and she wants her mom to back off. Dr. Phil gives Martha a wake-up call, and it’s not pretty! Then, 18-year-old Ashley says she wants a second breast implant surgery to increase to a Double-D cup size because “pretty people get more opportunities in life.” Ashley’s father and stepmother say the first surgery was necessary to boost Ashley’s self-esteem, but they’re against her getting any more procedures. Will Ashley change her mind about going under the knife again? Plus, meet a 17-year-old who says it’s not only time for breast implants, but also for Botox for her crow’s feet, and lip and cheek injections! Weigh in!

Martha needs to back off!

Why is she so invested in her daughter`s outer appearance? Beauty sells? Is she trying to make money off her daughter? Did she miss out on something? Whatever she is missing will not bd found by putting her daughter under the knife. Her money would be better spent on counseling.

Beauty sell?

It also fades. And man-made "beauty" is the fastest-fading kind. Especially breast implants. What do big boobs have to do witg being pretty, anyway? I`ve seen some clock-stopping faces and big boobs on the same body.

A boob job=self esteem?

Then why does she want another one? Those who seek self esteem this way become plastic surgery junkies. After a dozen procedures, their self esteem is still in the toilet.

What kind of "opportunities" require fake dd boobs? Lingerie ads? Men`s magazines? Pornography? What self respecting woman wants everyone so busy staring at her chest they never notice anything else about her?

Who has crow`s feet at 17?

And, even if they do, botox is not the answer. Anyone who starts getting botox at 17 will have a frozen face by 30!

Cadescove/Ramair, you know that you can get your points across without having to use multiple posts each & every time. I do agree with what you're saying, though. They're beautiful as they are inside & out. There's no need to make changes within themselves.

When I make the multiple posts, I'm using the mobile web, over my cell phone. Unless I keep my posts short, I always get "timed out" when I try to submit them. So, I divide my points into several smaller posts. You have probably also noticed that I spell proper names and pronouns in lower case. I hate doing that, but the mobile web makes no provision for capitalizing any but the first letter in a sentence. And, there is no spell-check. This message was posted on a computer.

teens pressure to be pretty

Well  Its all the stuff in movies and tv. That make teens think they should look this way. I think do what makes the person happy. Don't go by models and stuff
